Making my own server...

Hey guys Raskae here. not japanese really just5 liek the name ^^,
16, love rose, ski racing and fishing, being lazy is my best sport, and sarcasm is my favorite trait

haha so yeah. im really new to all this stuff and iu really need some help. me and my friend are making a pserver for rose, and although i would much rather get the irose files to make a pre evo server, evo is fine i guess...

my friend is decent with coding but i havet a clue! i have mroe friends i could bring inbto the project that know what their doing though

all i need is a good guide with links for downloads and a tutorial. i already have the forums up and working fine, and im ready to start makin the server... SO now all i need is to know how to do it! i looked all over the place and finally someone in ragezone requsted this, so here i am lol. can anyone help me out? please reply with a tutorial guide or at least downloads and a place where i can figure out how to use em. THANKS!!

But just on a side note, it's funny how there are still some people who think that setting up a server is a 10 minute process (Gimme teh guide so I could run teh software ! )

haha thanks guys! and atm it would be my PC maybe max 100 players, but im saving for a laptop to dedicate to it. so its a work in progress hehe

Why would you want to use a laptop as a dedicated machine?
A desktop would be far more suitable.
Cheaper, easier to upgrade and so on.

yeah i just talked to my dad about it. im going to build a decent desktop once i can afford it still not sure where im gunna pull out 800 bucks. but its all good. hey does anyone know where i can find the iRose files? or do you have them here. my friend said this was just evo discussions

Are you talking about the osiRose files or the real server?

If real server, we dont have them here, try someone on RZ for them.

They are pretty hard to find over there too.

We have osIrose(irose emu), osProse(pre-evo emu) and osrose(evo emu) here.

And you should be able to build a pretty decent server for WAY les than $800

All you need is an old PC. Upgrade to a decent fast motherboard and processor. Don't go silly with XEON quad cores or anything like that, just get something reasonably fast. Shouldn't cost more than a couple hundred for both.
Add a large HD ($100 should get you 120 gig or so) and that's it.
Of course you need an OS too. XP pro works pretty well for a server.

I'm running a server on a dedicated 3 year old PC with a 2.7mhz dual processor and it works really good so far.
I might upgrade one day if it gets really busy but so far no need to.
