How to make an auto-updater

When I was scrolling down google searching for an auto updater code for our launchers, I found this:

it is meant to update your launcher, not client. for example you could launch that app before the launcher, it will allow you to update your launcher ( incase of ip changes or whatever ) and after the update it would launch the launcher and then patch the client or whatever.

that app has been posted before, ive seen posts about it here, or maybe it was on ragezone, cant remember.

if it's only the neoncube.ini you can let neoncube download the rar file that contains the neoncube.ini file "Normal people" launche the launcher 2 times if it's not working

just add FLD in the patchlist on the server.

but if you want to update neoncube.exe then you must create of look for something that download it befor neoncube starts.

actualy most servers done use a txt file to store server info. its embedded inside the exe. this is the reason he was posting that link.

And still i don't see why you should make a VB Updater wich you gotta run manualy or you still gotta code in you launcher to let it check for a version server sided and run the updater.

You could also make one in the launcher itself wich is 100 times easier

true, i didnt say the above method was the best way of doing it.

i merely pointed out why the guy posted the link.

i think it would help, but needs to be well supported by your server's dev-team or it would be completly useless.
