Is there an reason for this?

There are several post regarding this error. You need .net runtime and possible the Visual C++ runtimes.

Make also sure that you run the executable from your "TriggerSoft\RoseOnline" folder.

That tone won't get you far. If someone knows how to help, they will. Be patient.

I couldn't get mine to find the patchlist either at first. I had the URL wrong and the patchlist.txt file name spelled wrong.

It finds it now but still doesn't work. The patcher crashes, saying something about needing a non zero patch level. i haven't had the time to really play with it yet though.

Either it is looking for a record of the present patch number and can't find it (I don't know where it is supposed to be either) or it is mis-reading the patchlist file which is written exactly as core explained it.

Where the heck does it store the current patch version anyway?

I see that core says it is called neoncube.file or something. I haven't looked that hard but i don't remember seeing this file anywhere in the installation.
Is it supposed to be there before you start?

I now have the same problem myself.
I have filled the whole thing in and i can get everything to work except actually loading the patchlist.txt file.
It simply fails to get it every time, no matter what I put in the ini file.
Here is what i have right now
  1.
  2. server_name = KTRose
  3. notice_url  = http://kuro-tejina.com/forums/
  4. patch_site  = http://ktrose.no-ip.org/
  5. patch_port  = 80
  6. patch_list  = patch/patchlist.txt
  7. patch_folder = patch/
  8.
  9. executable  = TRose.exe
  10. ragexe_call = TRose.exe @TRIGGER_SOFT@ _server ktrose.no-ip.org
  11. registration_link   = http://ktrose.no-ip.org/index.php

I get the correct notice url.
It launches the game just fine
It won't load the bloody patchlist.
the patchlist file is definitely there. I can see it by typing in the url
http://ktrose.no-ip.org/patch/patchlist.txt

Another strange thing is that if I leave the trailing '/' off of the 'patch site' value (as shown in the commented code example in the ini file), the program totally crashes.
It doesn't seem to make any difference if I put a leading '/' onto the patch_list or patch_folder fields.

Any suggestions?

OK I got it working.

The problem is that the "patch site" field won't work if you use a URL
It does work absolutely perfectly if you use an absolute IP address.

That seems a bit weird but it is the only way i can make it work.

I tried it successfully with 127.0.0.1 and with another computer on my LAN
I also tried it with my WAN IP and that worked too.

It WON'T work with http://ktrose.no-ip.org though

ABE: AHA!!!!
It does work though, if you leave out the "http://"

That's the secret it would seem. Just give it the raw url without the "http://" bit
