Try this.
I will set it up using the information that you supplied.

server_name = KTRose
notice_url = yoursite.com
patch_site = 77.250.178.194
patch_port = 80
patch_list = /patch/patchlist.txt
patch_folder = /patch/

anything from htdocs backward isn't needed since that is the root folder of your website.

C:\xampplite\htdocs\patch == /patch/

The patchsite field should have no leading "http://" (but should include "www." if applicable) and no trailing "/"
example

or
77.250.178.194

the patch_list field must have a leading "/" and should only contain the path after your root website page (do not include C:\xampplite\htdocs)
example. Do not include the red stuff
C:\xampplite\htdocs/this/is/my/patch/folder/patchlist.txt

the patch_folder must have a leading "/" and a trailing "/"
example
C:\xampplite\htdocs/this/is/my/patch/folder/

Hope this helps 8-)

PS i can read your patchlist file quite easily.
http://77.250.178.194/patch/patchlist.txt.txt
Why have you got two ".txt" on the end?
This is going to make neoncube fail to get the file.
Rename it to "patchlist.txt"

im sure i dont know why ive got two .txt :?: :?:

EDIT: thnx it work now ive got it like this

server_name = BlackdpdRose
notice_url = 77.250.178.194/index.php?op=home
patch_site = 77.250.178.194
patch_port = 80
patch_list = /patch/patchlist.txt.txt
patch_folder = /patch/patchlist.txt.txt

now it says : no new updates :P and he can find it so thnx it work now. im soo happy :D
i fixed the .txt twice and it works :mrgreen:

when you have:
1 VFS 3DDATA/STB/LIST_NPC.STB*
2 VFS 3DDATA/STB/LIST_NPC_S.STL*
3 VFS LIST_NPC.rar

the only thing that i dont know its normal is that the LIST_NPC.rar dont get in the normal STB so if you look in the VFSNextgen then you see.

3DDATA
SCRIPTS
LIST_NPC.STB
LIST_NPC_S.STL
CAMERAS
ETC
RES
SHADERS

this is where he puts the LIST_NPC.STB, LIST_NPC_S.STL i thought he will put it in the real 3DDATA/STB file

you zip file must contain the folders too

if you want to patch an STB then your zip must contain a folder called "3DData" and inside that you put another folder called "STB" and finally your STB and STL files go inside this.

The best way is to make the file structure first then zip the whole thing.
neoncube will place the contents of your zip file directly into the VFS root directory so your patch needs to be the exact same structure as the VFS already contains.

How about finding me somewhere to host the darn update files. ;)

I am rapidly coming to the conclusion that it is going to take vast amounts of bandwidth to host them.

The problem is that we have to make sure that any players that are playing on our servers, have the same exact file structure.
They may all be at different starting points so we need to make a patcher than can pretty much install the entire VFS (minus a few parts that are universal to all clients) so that everybody is then at the same level.

I have been building a patch list that brings everybody to where they need to be to play on KTRose and so far the files are up around 100MB and I'm not even close to finishing yet.

I shudder to think of a couple of hundred people patching this at the same time from my crappy little PC server in my basement.

I could do hosting if people want to. THe only issue right now is my uplink (a whoppin' 0.5 Mb), but I'm already in the process of changing to 10 Mb fiber <3

Wow cool.
What kind of bandwidth would you have available?
At a couple hundred MB (for a full patch) it would add up pretty darn quick

you mean becus of the oro planet.. i see it on your patchlist ive first downloaden it on my client then i make an install program of it and then put it on filefront.. then they've automaticly the planet oro on there client.. so they dont need to patch that.. ( srry for my bad english )

ive used smart install maker. 5.01 ( its for only 30 days.. )
ive put it on rapidshare for you.. try it out..

Planet oro is just one part of it.
In my patchlist file I have only added the actual Oro directory so far. not even the other files that need to be included.
There will eventually need to be several hundred (maybe even thousands) of lines in the patchlist.txt file and while a lot of the actual RAR files will be able to contain large amounts of files, it still makes a pretty large download

I did think about possibly making a full working client then zipping up the entire VFS structure as a single download and it is still an option to do that.

I think the problem with that approach is in trying to make the process idiot-proof. I want the patcher to take care of all this for me so that I can guarantee that all my players have the exact same client rather than a mish-mash of different versions.

I tried a general download of a full VFS before and i found that I spent the next week in non stop tech support with players who couldn't figure out how to put it in the right place in their PCs.

It is an unfortunate fact that not all players are computer-smart. ;)
