[Solved - Dev Rev. 360]Knights off-hand

Postby Choseal on Tue May 25, 2010 7:57 am

For a while now I have been getting reports about the Knight class being overpowered. Turns out that when I equip any shield on a mage, artisan, champion, or anything except Knight, it just adds normal defence server side. But when I equip the same shield (Vivor Shield) on a Knight class character, the difference in defence will be about 2-2.5k

For example:
I log in, without shield, my client-side defence is 904.
I use /mystat2 def, and my defence server-side is 904.

Then I equip a shield (Vivor Shield) and my client side defence is 1024.
I use /mystat2 def, and my server-side defence is 3363.

Lmame told me that the status calculation is still not perfect, and that I should wait for the next rev to come out, but I think it's a bit odd that I'm only having this problem with Knights?

The only thing I changed that has anything to do with the Knights is give the shields less defence, but that was áfter I got those reports.

I am using dev rev. 360 with version 269 of NaRose.

Give it time for someone to work it up.

Not everyone is on everyday, plus no one is getting paid to do this too :P

OK, I've done some research. I think I screwed up in some file, that handles a player's defence.

I've been changing so much, that I really cant backtrack to the point where I changed something that has anything to do with defence, so it would be great if someone could tell me in what file I should look? :)

playerstats.cpp, look if it makes any difference for shield defense calculation between knights and other jobs

Nope, I think it's something client side, if that is possible?

I'll let you know if I fixed it when I do, and how. :)

Got it, the new client uses a new system for the skills, this includes passive skills.

At first it would give a certain percentage of defence as a bonus (or something like this), and now it's a number. I guess the server is still taking a 500 defence bonus as a 500% bonus.

Atleast, that's my guess, I haven't really looked into it, I guess most of you have.

I see :)
Well usually you got something telling you in the STB if it's a % or an add.
