VFS Extractor (Calder)

Postby lmame on Sun Mar 01, 2009 4:35 pm

Software:
calder wrote:Features:
Extract all
Extract Folder
Extract File
Allows for different numbers of base VFS files. (ie using Rescudos Single VFS)

Use:
Choose File > Load and open the data.idx file from your Rose folder.
Extracting - Left click to choose the item to extract, right click and choose extract and you'll be asked to choose a destination. To extract the entire VFS choose the / at the top of the tree view.
Different numbers of VFS files - The text box for this defaults to 5 as that is the normal number of VFS files inside a normal Rose structure. However if you have changed that, ie with Rescudos single VFS tool you can just enter the number of base VFS files in that text box. (this function is untested because Rescudos tool hates me xD)

To my knowledge this is the only public VFS extractor that allows you to see files inside files inside VFS structures with anything other than 5 base VFS files and also the only one that allows for single folder extraction ;)

Version:

Good tool , " extract folder " is a great function ;)
But if i remember, it's extract the first version of the file found in the client...
So it's extract for exemple an 4 years STB and not the actual xD
It's very easy to fix (cf BYTE deleted) and i'm sure calder or matt do it in a newer version of the tool :)

In other terms tools is very nice but there is a little bug ;)

For the 2 Installs i've tried to load the data.idx file with this program, it said "Access to the path <path here> denied"

Edit:
Happens with every client i try to load, all of which are irose clients.

FIXED!
Started it as admin and with windows xp service pack 2 compatibility mode, and it's working. Now lets see if I can extract.

>.< lol, fixed

This version is a little different, shouldn't need to add the number of archives it detects them itself and it saves a log to the application directory of actions performed. Still has all the other features of the original though.

Hi!

I noticed as of naROSE v274 the IDX has changed somewhat - enough so that any VFS extractor on the board fails.

Is there a way a new revision could be uploaded by some smart individual?

Thanks!

Are you sure? I just updated to latest version and tested VFS editor from Snipah and it worked fine.

That works. Thanks!

Edit: I still think the IDX or the DLL changed a tad - because every other tool (VFS extractor-based and viewer) I ran has an output that states as much. :O

I used the VFS/STB extraction tools in the rollup thread you posted. I used them on the original naROSE client.

Did you want me to post results? :)
