Making Rose use files not in VFS

Postby Maxxon on Mon Jan 21, 2008 3:51 pm

Hi,

can i make rose use the files in the normal filesystem? i dont wanna recreate vfs files (and if i would recreate them i would need a tool that adds a whole directory structure).
i thought, if i edit for example a STB i just have to place it in the correct folder and rose will use it then and not the one stored in the VFS. but that does not seem to be the case.

If you would make an mass vfs filler you would still need to suply much info for every file such as in wich .vfs file to store it and the directory structure.
so theres no easy way of doing this

to make a file read from the folder, you have to stick it in the ROOT.VFS, which isn't really a VFS at all, but tells it to look in the directory structure.

to make a program to put -everything- in the ROOT, you could just loop through every file in the VFS and change it's VFS to ROOT.VFS. all the other info would stay the same, so it doesn't seem like it'd be that hard to do. just a loop through each VFS and each file.

personally, i don't like the idea of it, but that's just me ^^

i want this just for testing. adding tons of files to existing vfs would be a bad idea anyway i think. it will fragment the VFS.
