Just throwing this up here because I'm stupid excited.

Wine seems to be handling ROSE just fine. Installer was a breeze, trigger detect worked as expected, and now I'm sitting at the login screen. Going to try to get the servers working.

The servers should work just fine. I've worked with several people who run linux with wine. they all managed to get everything working

The problem I'm stuck on right now is extracting the 3DData. Even running extractors on windows doesn't seem to be working (all of the tools have since been abandoned). Is there one I should be using?

I've never had any problems with any of them.
Every time I've tested any one of them they work just fine for me.
the one i always preferred for doing a full extraction is VFSNextGen http://forum.dev-osrose.com/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=1055

It just sits there; I hit "Extract Item" on the 3DData folder, it opens up a folder selector, I hit "Save" and then nothing.

EDIT: The one you linked seems to only extract one thing at a time. Do you seriously have to sit there and go one by one? That'll take hours.

EDIT2: In the VM, I had to copy the entire client to the local disk (doing it over VBOXSVR wasn't enough), then I used VFSEditor by Sniper to File -> Extract All. That finally worked. Now re-uploading all of the extracted files to the host disk and hopefully that'll work.
