Hey all, I was just wandering around the net to see what was going on in the rose world these days. It doesn't seem like much but this site kinda gave me some new hope. I'm not a coder or anything but I was just curious about the people active on this forum. Are you guys just doing this all for fun/practice or is there any plans to create running servers? I'm an old iRose player like anyone else asking these questions hoping for a populated low rate iRose type server to play on. Just a shot in the dark really but I've never really found a game that I've had as much fun on as I did with Rose. Is there any hope or am I just grasping for straws? Anyway, Cheers to you guys and what you do. Thanks for reading.

Hi,

To be honest, it's a bit quiet in the ROSE world these days. Private servers with big intentions come and go from time to time but nobody seems to make anything stick. There are a few "official" servers running across the world with the North American version being the only English version (http://roseonlinegame.com/). AruaROSE has been running for long enough that I guess you can bucket it into the "official" category now (https://www.aruarose.com/). These servers manage to chug along but I don't think any particularly evolutionary or exciting has come out of them in a long time.

In the private dev side the main osROSE server projects have stagnated. I think one of the evo servers (maybe the RoseZA version?) is the most developed. PurpleYouko's project 137 (viewforum.php?f=58) is probably the most comprehensive in terms of functionality and is probably the only project that includes client source code. Raven and L3nn0x have been consistently working on a re-vamp of the osIROSE server which has gotten pretty far in infrastructure but is missing a lot of gameplay elements (https://github.com/dev-osrose/osIROSE-new).

Besides that, if there is anyone else working on ROSE projects then they are working in secret/in a silo but I think it's more likely that there isn't many other people active. There's been a couple of posts by AnimalCrackerz who seems to play around on the art side of things, he might be working for a server or something. I myself have been bouncing around between various client development initiatives but nothing has stuck for me so far.

If you're looking for an iROSE revival, I don't think it will happen anytime soon. However, I think there are enough people around that these projects might have a heartbeat for a little while longer.

There are a few small server projects going on in some side areas. I pretty regularly help out with small code fixes in two or three of them right now but I'm never going to get fully involved with any one specific private server any more.
been there. done that. ;)

Anyway. It's nice to see that some people are still interested in rose.
