Custom Client (updates)

Postby Aukemon0NL on Fri Aug 06, 2010 11:02 pm

As some people know of RageZone:
I started working on an open-source client.
Before it gets open-source it will first need to be decent and working.
But it will be easyer to use and much better than the clients we use now days.
I will try to give as much updates about the client and what we have done.
The client will be based on C++.

UPDATES:
Update 5-8-2010:
  • -Working for 2 months secretly on the base.
  • -Looking on purpleyouko's graphics engine: 3D Engine and Game Development SDK by Truevision3D and what we can do with it and what not.
  • -Lost the base by HDD crash (waiting for my friend to come back out of the "jungle".)
Update 6-8-2010:
  • -Friend is out of the jungle (yay! :D) got the base back.
  • -Trying to get those freaking copyright stuff out of the graphics engine. (hate copyright marks -,-")

More updates to come.

The source will be private and you can only get the source on invite for now. The client itself will be released for public and will work with osrose dev rev (2 I hope).

We are looking for somebody who is good in ASM and can do some C++ to translate some building of the original client this will help us develop faster.
This can make building go from 6 months to 4months or less :)

That's great, good luck with this.

It's not that I cant code, but I'm swarmed like 99% of the time with other project. I have a bad habit of becoming a staff member on every forum is visit.. *sigh*

I would love to help once I can dump some of these projects, I look forward to seeing any graphical results. :)

Will you be re-creating all file-formats, and release them on the site/forum too?

I like to use something easyer than the file formats we use nowdays.
This will result faster adding new content to the system.
and it´s fine your not joining to many people working on 1 client will make it unhandy for now.
We first need to build the client before we can develop anything new, this will take atleast 4months if we have an ASM/C++ reader/writer. Else wise it will take atleast 6months.

Right now we don't have twitter.
I never used twitter in my complete live. (I h8 it srry)
If I feel like there's a need to it.
I will create 1.
But this will work fine for now just come back to this topic once in awhile and ur up-to-date ;)

I suggest you to look at this : http://code.google.com/p/r3e/
And maybe you could also ask brett19 , i remember that he made is own client (called Ikarus client).

This looks good but the problem still is that it's in openGL.
I hate that DirectX is way better with dx11 or dx10 :P
But this will give me alot more info on hows it's build :)
