Successfully Created Character but Client Crash when played

I'm sure there will be a TON of bugs discovered. List them here and we will cross them off the list as they are fixed.

Successfully Created Character but Client Crash when played

Hi there!

I have manage to download and run both the server and client. I have first encounter this error

when I used the TROSE.exe from the other thread - viewtopic.php?f=60&t=5814

Seeing another TROSE.exe already in the Donor Client, I proceeded and was able to reach Character creation and was able to successfully create a character, however, they came clothless. :D

When I try to select the newly created character and try to play it, the client crash.

Any hint if what was the cause of such?
Doing the right thing is the right thing to do!

I gave specific instructions to NOT use the one that's in the donor client.
The trose that I provided here in the forums is up to date.
A LOT of things have been modified in that trose. The packet structures are different.
Need to lookup information on NARose items, skills, quests?
Now featuring a newly completed skill tree for all classes
Formatting fixed for different resolutions

Yes PY,

The error "Assertion Failed!" that was posted was the result of using the updated TROSE you have provided...

Did you download the 3DData folder from the Pre-Extracted VFS thread and put it in your client?

That definitely looks like a VFS read error

Hi PY! I was trying to do it work too, i've got some free time now, and I'd like to try something with all this, but I have the same issue.

Well what I did is compile the server files, load them, and they work.
I can't compile the client either, this is the error:
Error 1135 error LNK2038: mismatch detected for '_ITERATOR_DEBUG_LEVEL': value '0' doesn't match value '2' in CCamera.obj C:\ROSE\CLIENT\Rose_Engine\Client\Util.lib(CPacketCODEC.obj)

I think it could be fixed recompiling the util.lib..I'll try tomorrow and lets see what happen

I used your binary for trose, and did all the steps, extract the client and add your 3ddata folder + trose. Client crashes when selecting character. No errors in server side.

Ehh, I'm having that same issue, but no luck in getting it to work. Then again I haven't put too much time into it either.

EDIT: jk, figured a way, but doesn't seem right get a lot more errors but got it to successfully build by switching out the Util.lib from the release folder with another one seemed to have worked so far.

EDIT2: Nvm that didn't work after all.

I finally got it to compile, but guessing PY you pushed some changes that also change where it looks for znzin.lib

either way looking forward to finally messing with it and breaking.

No changes specifically related to the lib.
It's possible that the earlier stuff might have been looking for it on my F drive though. I did make some changes in client.vcxproj to remove a load of ROSE_ROOT macro calls and replace them with relative paths so that they should work anywhere.

It's a bit of a minefield doing those mods directly in the vcxproj file but it seems to be the only way it works :?

hmmm yeah, nah it was trying to open znzin.lib from "Rose_Engine/Engine/libs/Win32/debug" which libs folder doesn't exist there. All is good though, got it to compile and run fine.
