Test server (PurpleYouko)

Postby PurpleYouko on Sun May 11, 2008 9:12 pm

I thought i would have a go at setting up a launcher/updater for my osProse test server.

It works just fine with neoncube so here it is.

ktrose_neoncube.zip
(2.25 MiB) Downloaded 1919 times

just extract this to your pre-evo rose online folder then use it to launch the game when you want to connect to my test server or whenever you want to get updates of mods made in the client.

This way we can also share in modifications made to the client side.

It should initially patch to version 108 and the way to tell that it has worked correctly is to take a look at yourself in your underclothes. they should be purple :D

Thanks go to Sethanye for making the skins for me to use in my evo server.
i thought I would put them here just for testing.

If anyone makes mods to the client such as adding new content, planets etc, just send me the change list and the rar of the new stuff and I will add it to the patchlist for us all to share

Just seemed a cool way to test whether the patcher works with osProse :D

so if we made some changes for the client, should we just zip it and send it?

actually i thought when you got something fixed or anything just post it in submit code and they wil upload it but something like changing dropdata.csv or any other easy thing you can upload it yourself. but you must tell them what you did. so they can check
at least pepu said PM me ( or everybody i dont know what it was ) what you changed when you upload.

that's right Blackdpd just upload anything you have to the code submit area and we will take it from there.

that includes client mods if you have any good ones, although possibly we might need a different section for those. have to see how Lmame wants to handle that so we don't get client and server mods mixed up.

technically though we shouldn't have as many issues with client mods in the osProse client as nobody else is working with it to my knowledge.

Just make sure that whatever client mods you add, they should be sort of "general" ... I believe OsRose emulators are supposed to be a "base" to build your own, custom server on, which means there shouldn't already be too much extra, custom stuff. Or am I wrong here?

yes you are right.
The updates should really be used for general stuff.
I think the addition of all the extra basic items from evo would be a good idea though. How do you feel about that.

I won't be adding any of my real custom stuff over this system other than the stuff i already added for testing. ;)

Of course, stuff like Eldeon is pretty much a must. I was just thinking that things like a custom client skin should be more unique from server to server, while other Evolution things should of course be implemented even in the "general" release.
